I recently spent a good chunk of time playing Big Bass Vegas Double Down Deluxe, the latest installment in Pragmatic Play’s long-running fishing-themed slot series. As someone who’s played nearly every Big Bass game out there, I was curious to see how this one would stack up – especially with the flashy Vegas twist Pragmatic Play has added!
After an hour or two of playing, I can say: it’s definitely a familiar slot – but there’s a few fresh hooks that took me by surprise, and it’s a fairly decent game if you’re a fan of the series. In this review, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about the game!

My First Impressions
When I first launched the game, I was greeted by a neon-soaked skyline of Las Vegas, complete with glowing signs and a pretty good looking design where the reels are, as you’d expect – underwater. It’s quite a drastic change from the rivers and lakes I’m used to seeing in Big Bass games – but it works.
The reels are filled with the standard Big Bass symbols: tackle boxes, fishing rods, pelicans, and the iconic pink speedboat. What I like, though, is that everything has been given that “Vegas facelift” – and it all looks really polished.
Gameplay, Interface, and Mechanics
Big Bass Vegas Double Down Deluxe takes place on the standard five-reel, three-row layout. There are ten fixed paylines in play at all times – just like almost all previous Big Bass slots. Wins are formed by lining up three or more matching symbols from left to right.
Also like most of its predecessors, the base game is relatively dull – and the real excitement is found in the bonuses and features. I was happy to see a wide variety of stake options available – and you can spin the reels from as little as $0.10 per spin! The maximum bet is also solid, reaching up to $250!
The game’s default RTP is 96.5%, although be aware – as with most Pragmatic Play slots – lower RTP versions are available. Overall, the user interface is user friendly and easy to use. I found it easy to select my bet size and begin spinning. I was also happy to find autoplay and turbo mode available.
Bonus Features
Dual Fisherman Wilds
Before we get into the game’s main bonus round we need to talk about the Dual Fisherman Wilds. In Big Bass Vegas Double Down Deluxe you’ll find red and blue Fisherman wild symbols – and each wild not only substitutes for other symbols but also collects the values of Money Fish symbols on the reels. These are added to their respective meters. Every fourth wild of a particular color retriggers the free spins and increases the multiplier for that colour’s collection.
This dual system allows for simultaneous progression on both meters, and, in the bonus, this means you can hit multiple re-triggers – and higher multipliers than in previous versions of the game
Free Spins Feature
Big Bass Vegas Double Down Deluxe’s main bonus round is a free spins feature, and it’s triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view. Doing so awards you with 15, 20, or 25 free spins respectively. During the bonus, as mentioned above, two types of Fisherman Wilds – red and blue – appear, and each of these collects all Money Fish symbols in view and fills its corresponding meter. Every fourth wild collected awards an additional 10 free spins and increases the multiplier, similar to what I’ve seen in other Big Bass games.
Dynamite Feature
Occasionally, during the free spins, if a Fisherman Wild lands without any Money Fish symbols present, the Dynamite feature can trigger. When it does, the reels are replaced with Money Fish symbols. The wild then collects all the values that appear on your screen.
Hook Feature
On the other side of the coin, if you land Money Fish symbols without a Fisherman Wild, the Hook feature can randomly trigger. A hook appears and pulls a reel up, revealing a Fisherman Wild to collect the fish values.
Bazooka Feature
When a Fisherman Wild lands without any Money Fish symbols on the reels, the Bazooka feature can also activate. This causes all symbols, except the wilds, to change, and there’s a higher chance of the changed symbols revealing Money Fish symbols for the wilds to collect.
Bonus Buy Options
As with most Pragmatic Play slots today, I was expecting to find a bonus buy mechanic in Big Bass Vegas Double Down Deluxe – and I wasn’t disappointed! There’s also a few different options.
You can purchase the standard free spins bonus for a total cost of 100x your base game stake, or, if you prefer, there’s a Super Free Spins Bonus which can be purchased for a cost of 300x. The Super Free Spins are, I’d say, much better, as you only need three Fisherman Wilds to retrigger the feature, making it a lot easier to reach higher multipliers.
Big Bass Vegas Double Down Deluxe Mobile Review
While most of my time reviewing Big Bass Vegas Double Down Deluxe was done from my laptop, I did test out the game on my mobile device. To be honest, I can’t really fault it here. The game ran smoothly and the graphics rendered perfectly – even when I was using my 4G connection rather than WiFi.
One thing I always like about Pragmatic Play’s slots is that the mobile optimized versions of their games are really user friendly – and this makes it easy to adjust bet sizes, access game information, and set up autoplay.
My Verdict
Big Bass Vegas Double Down Deluxe is definitely going to be a “oh my goodness, MORE?” game for some players – and it’s true, Pragmatic Play has used the Big Bass fishing theme a LOT. Still, I think they’ve managed to do enough here to make the game unique in its own way – and I actually quite like the Vegas theme.
The addition of dual Fisherman Wilds and the potential for higher multipliers during the free spins is also a nice new touch, I feel – so if you’re a fan of Big Bass games and want to enjoy something with a bit more complexity, then Big Bass Vegas Double Down Deluxe is definitely worth a spin, I’d say.
Sure, there’s not a huge happening in the base game – and that’s always one of my biggest criticisms of Big Bass games, to be honest. However, that’s kind of what you know you’re getting when you play them – so if constant base game action is what you want, you’re probably better off playing something else.
